What to expect
Our first stop, during the Sunday in the Countryside half-day trip from Dubrovnik, is in Cilipi, a little village known for preserving the local heritage. The locals dressed in national costumes will perform traditional dances. The performance will take place in front of the parish church of St. Nicholas after the holy Mass. The site also includes a heritage museum and a small fair with handcrafted souvenirs.
Afterwards, we will continue to the river Ljuta area, where you will be served a local aperitif and introduced to the traditional crafts. Finally, we will visit Sokol tower, an impressive fort built on a rock overlooking the valley of Konavle.
Good to know
Sunday in the countryside half-day trip from Dubrovnik has to start in the morning hours due to the folklore performance timetable.
Before the folklore, the holy Mass will be celebrated in the Croatian language in the Catholic church of St. Nicholas. If you have the desire to attend, it can be arranged.
This half-day trip from Dubrovnik is ideal for those who want to get acquainted with the local heritage.
It is also very convenient for those who depart from the Dubrovnik Airport on Sunday afternoon and must check out from their hotel by 10 am (after the tour, the drop off would be at the airport).
Seatings are provided for the folklore performance, but some might not be in the shade, so consider bringing a hat on a sunny day.
Sokol Tower is a fort on the cliff, with many steps to climb while visiting it. The steps are steep and uneven.
Sunday in the countryside half-day trip from Dubrovnik can be extended with a lunch at a local restaurant in a beautiful setting, a silk production presentation, and a visit to Cavtat.

"I am a tour operator based in South Africa. In April I took a group of 46 tourists on a visit to Croatia. This was my 3rd visit with a group. Croatia is beyond description...the beauty of this piece of heaven is absolutely breathtaking! Dubrovnik is mysterious and magical...a journey into the past. The guide for all 3 tours was Julija Antunovic. This young lady made our tour a resounding success! She is vibrant, energetic, knowledgeable, cheerful, highly flexible to any special requirements and remarkably patient and accommodating. Everyone in the group was greatly impressed with her passionate keenness to educate us in detail about the history and culture of the region. Her professionalism was unanimously noted and appreciated by the group and contributed to the total success of the tour!"
