Things to do in Dubrovnik - short stay
Updated: Mar 4
I am often asked about what to do in Dubrovnik. For such a little town, there are actually many things to do. Whether you stay one or more days in Dubrovnik, these are basic things that I recommend:
GUIDED WALKING TOUR
Yes, I am biased here! But still, it is something that you should do. You could also enjoy the harmonious architecture and the atmosphere of the walled town on your own. Still, in that way, you would miss important and interesting facts from the history that determined Dubrovnik's fate. You could pass by some sights without realizing that they represent advanced achievements of medieval times. Dubrovnik is not just one of many Mediterranean towns. Dubrovnik is unique, and you will appreciate and enjoy it even more when you learn something about it on a walking tour with a local guide.

WALK ON THE ANCIENT CITY WALL
Please do not call it a castle! It is a defensive system complex that was built throughout the centuries. Awe-inspiring one and impressively preserved. It is almost two km long and consists of walls, towers, fortresses, and bulwarks. It is the wall that makes Dubrovnik unique, so once you are here, you have to walk on it and see the town from that perspective, as well.

CLIMB THE HILL ABOVE DUBROVNIK AND ENJOY THE SPECTACULAR VIEWs
From Srd, the hill above Dubrovnik, you will enjoy the most panoramic views of the Old City, other parts of the Dubrovnik area and surrounding islands.
There is a restaurant with a view, where you can have dinner at sunset, light lunch or maybe just a relaxing drink.
Those interested in our recent history can also visit the adjacent fortress that houses an exhibition related to the attack on Dubrovnik during the Homeland War.
If you like hiking, you can reach the top on foot. There is also a cable car service or a local driver service.

UNWIND AT BUZA BAR
Buza bar has become the most popular secret place in the Old City of Dubrovnik that isn't secret anymore. The hole (buza) in the southern wall leads to a quaint bar on the cliffs facing the sea. The view of the Adriatic, the island Lokrum and boats passing by with the massive wall behind you is the perfect setting for enjoying your drink and the whole Dubrovnik experience.
